All women between the ages of 18-70 should have a Pap test (cervical screening) every two years even if they have had the cervical cancer vaccine. A Pap test is a quick and simple way to check for changes to the cells in the cervix (90% of women who have cervical cancer either haven’t had a Pap test or not had a regular Pap test).
O’Connell St Medical Centre offers a Pap smear clinic Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Patients can see our female GPs until 2pm each day or, for other times, visit any GP currently on call.
Please note: Pap tests require a longer consultation – let reception know at the time of booking.
